To whom it may concern

Since you now have "fixed" Shadow Form citing concerns about the "economy" in Guild Wars I and many others think it might be time for you to remove all the "duped" ectos and armbraces as they effect the economy far more then any SF farming could ever do.
We think it was a travesty that they were left in game as they have diminished the accomplishment of does that have earned or traded for their ectos/armbraces the honest way.

For those who don't understand the connection with duping. Since Anet now have started being concerned about the economy any and all duped Items left in game effects the economy in a negative way.

The QQing about this change and that change is like fingernails on a blackboard - really quite annoying. It is the view of many that only the changes that improve their lot are acceptable and that they must never be balanced with changes that harm their play. They want cake, and more cake with a side order of cake and cake for afters.

Embrace the changes I say - 'vive la difference' as it refreshes both teh mind and one's game play.

Edit - it may be that I am doing the OP an injustice and that he/she truly only wants to focus on duped items. I am going off the info in the profile and time of creation of their Guru identity in my surmising about where the thread is really aimed.

I was under the impression that a lot of duped items were deleted allready and many dupers got banned. Which means that only merchants/traders and crafters will make ecto's dissapear.

My view on ecto farming?

Farm ecto's, buy Obsidian armor and Chaos gloves = GG

Buy ecto's, they are cheaper than ever, buy Obsidian armor and Chaos gloves = GG

Farm ecto's, try to sell them, wait for them to raise in value = no GG

they fixed SF because it was obviously too powerfull

it has 50% less damage now. Still possible to use it, but will go slower. And ectos imo didn't really affect economy sooooo much. Since there were more ectos out, ppl asked for more ectos at 100k+ trades to match previous price. This mostly only allowed ppl to get obsidian armor and to those dedicated farmers to get some cash.

But not really sure what does last fix have to do with duping?

LOL you can't blame it on duped ectos! The economy suffered directly from the SF update. Even if there were duped ecto, people wouldnt know about it, and what we don't know, doesn't affect the trader. Sure the armbraces got messed up, but thats just because it's dupe caused fear mongering, and people started to sell cheap because they were afraid that the values would drop even lower.

Incidently, I'm pretty sure they removed most of the duped items.

Come on you guys, everyone knows that farming elite areas and getting rich is supposed to be easy. Why should we have to work together with a balanced team, making sure we play smart, watch over-aggroing, bring builds that synergize with each other, and actually have to put forth some effort in order to succeed in these elite areas? I mean seriously, why in God's name should there be any sort of challenge in the game?

Please stop concentrating on the SF part, my main point here is that finally A-Net have done something citing concerns about the economy.
And in that spirit should seriously look in to removing ALL duped items, as they DO impact the economy in a negative way.

I could care less about the SF part, I don't even have a Sin, but I do have some ectos.

Can you explain to us how it affects you? If you were smart, you would have sold all of your ectos yesterday when they were 5k+ and invested in Zkeys. Having ectos cost less really isn't such a bad thing. Now high-end armor is a realistic fantasy for those who don't have much time to spend playing, and I wouldn't be so surprised if that's what Anet intended all along (hence, the late nerf). They're smarter than you're giving them credit for.

Bottom line:
ECTOS ARE NOT/SHOULD NOT HAVE EVER BEEN/SHOULD NEVER AGAIN BE CURRENCY. STOP TRYING TO KEEP IT THAT WAY.

I consider your sarcasm to be BLASPHEMY!!!!! I say they add another overpowered skill for Mesmers, tied to Fast Casting called "If Looks Could Kill" Energy 25, cast time 1 sec, 15 second recharge. "All enemies within radar range suffer 5...100% health loss.

/agree, perma Sins are back in UW with the post-nerf builds and once the word starts spread, ectos are gonna plummit in prices again. All we gotta do now is sit back on our chairs and watch the ecto prices plummet.

Just consider this:
Few mins post nerf-5.5k
then 5k
then 4.8k
then 4.7k
then 4.5k
See the pattern? People will start buying at 3k again in a matter of days.

Well trying to stay on topic about duped items. Explain to me how ANET could remove all duped items w/o having a serious impact on most players. ANET did take action eliminating duped items and banning players they had proof knowingly duped or participated in the duping of items. Just think of how many trades go on each day and then think of how long it has been. I would say a majority of the duped items are in general circulation now.

The economy is broke because the demand no longer exceeds the supply. With so many people farming and buying stuff for so long eventually the demand dwindles. If everyone had FoW for example what would the price of shards do. The only thing that keeps ectos high is the demand for them in reagrads to 100K+ trading because their value, traditionallly, is fairly stable and high.

As people get away from the game, rare items become more common, Fow becomes standard, and more peolpe farm, ecto prices as with all prices will drop.

You will only see ecto prices go up if the demand exceeds the supply. This will only happen if:

The lower the drop rate
make them harder to farm (they did that and prices went up to 4K+ and will probably steady out between 4-5K again)
Make another gold sink that requires ecto to get whether taht be weapons, armor or a super cool "I am leet mini pet that"

ANET may have not helped the economy with chagnes they have made over time; but even doing nothing the ecto price would still drop over time.

It has nothing to do with a search function. It has to do with someone manually combing through database logs looking for suspicious patterns and whatnot. I think the devs have better things to do then comb through several-month-old records to find whatever they missed, especially when they already took action. That they did anything at all is enough.

if you are worried about the dupped items lets make a list:

how can you get the money to buy some minis as pandas and kanaxais and beetles ans ghostlys that costs +1000 ectos? did you farm 24\7 since the game started? did you powertraded untill exaution??? did you scammed? did you have the luck of your life and got them fair and square???

dont think so.....

and what about post items in pre?? Anet knows they are there but they havent deleted them...

it is impossible for Anet to eliminate every single duped item. there is just too many corruption in GW
